Yorkshire Water - Water Service Strategic Alliance Development

Innovative, blue-sky thinking would be the foundation of transformational strategies and action plans developed within the Yorkshire Water (YW) Water Operations group. To address regulatory and performance commitments for the next five years and beyond, the strategies would also need to deliver tangible business benefits on a no-regrets basis.

Working as YW’s strategic planning partner, Stantec was engaged to support the development of the Water Service Strategy Alliance. To form a basis for the plans, we developed and delivered offsite collaborative working sessions with up to fifty staff at a time from across the YW business and supply chain. Capturing the outputs, we also ran workshop sessions looking at activities to address key challenges across several business areas. The results allowed us to develop the strategies and action plans required to address said challenges and provide ongoing support for the Strategic Alliance to deliver on the initiatives.

The resulting initiatives and proposed new ways of working were incorporated into YW delivery approach for their AMP7 (2020-25), enabling the organisation to achieve performance and efficiency commitments and demonstrate value for customers, regulators, and shareholders.
