Supporting the need for new homes and infrastructure in Guildford

Wisley Airfield Residential Redevelopment

Taylor Wimpey had plans for a new sustainable development at the site of the former Wisley Airfield in Guildford. Their vision for this community includes accessible and inclusive new homes, affordable housing, a new education and medical provision, employment opportunities, and community facilities. They engaged our development economics team to assist with their proposals for the redevelopment.

We reviewed existing community and commercial uses in the local area to inform the type of shops and facilities to be incorporated within the development masterplan. We also provided an independent assessment of the existing education and healthcare provision and identified the need for additional facilities based off the projected 1,730 new homes. Our findings helped Taylor Wimpey identify infrastructure requirements and inform discussions with the local education authority and integrated care board.

Additionally, we calculated the economic benefits that would result from the development and prepared infographics to convey the benefits in a clear and accessible way. This included an employment and skills plan to outline local employment and upskilling opportunities that could be delivered throughout the construction process.

Through these efforts, Taylor Wimpey can pursue the continued redevelopment of the airfield in a way that will support both the new and surrounding communities.
