Circle Drive South Owner’s Engineer

When undertaking Circle Drive South, the largest infrastructure project in the City of Saskatoon history, they looked to us. The City’s first design-build procurement required 10 kilometers of freeway, five interchanges, three railway grade separations and a new crossing over the South Saskatchewan River.

As the owner’s engineer for the city, we’ve been there from the beginning nearly a decade ago, providing complete pre-design through post-construction phase services for the $300 million project.

Before designs could be mapped out we completed the Circle Drive South functional planning study. The studies recommendations and technical requirements were used for this project.

The opening of Circle Drive South has provided a more direct link between the east and west sides of the river preventing motorists from being funneled through the downtown core. Initial traffic projections suggest up to a 30 percent decrease in the average annual daily traffic using the Sid Buckwold Bridge in downtown Saskatoon.
