Discover how Stantec employees created global community impact through the 2025 Dollars for Doers volunteer program
In 2025, our Stantec’s Dollars for Doers (D4D) program has shown just how powerful our people can be when they put their skills, time, and heart into the communities around them. Through this program, employees who volunteer out in their communities around the globe receive a monetary donation to the charity or nonprofit they volunteer with. Across the company, our teams stepped up in countless ways by mentoring youth, supporting local nonprofits, protecting the environment, and strengthening neighborhoods while turning those hours of service into meaningful financial support for the causes they care about. The result is a year defined by generosity and impact, where every hour donated and every dollar matched helped build more resilient, connected, and hopeful communities.
We are proud to report that just over $103,000 in funding was donated worldwide in 2025. Each donation has shaped a story of compassion that deserves to be celebrated. As we look back on all we’ve achieved together, here is a small sampling of stories to show how we are #BetterTogether.
Mom’s House, located about two miles from Stantec’s Vestal, NY office, empowers economically disadvantaged single parents to complete their education by providing free, licensed childcare in a supportive environment. Each holiday season, our Binghamton office participates in Mom’s House’s “Adopt-a-Family” initiative, where local businesses and community partners sponsor families from the daycare by purchasing gifts, clothing, gift cards, and household items. This effort brings joy and eases stress for hardworking parents and their children. Our Vestal Office team has supported this initiative for over a decade with more than half of the 20-person office typically contributing annually. This past year, the Dollars for Doers donation enabled the team to assist additional families beyond the one our office adopted and bought gifts for, extending the impact of our support, and allowing us to bring hope and joy to additional families this holiday season.
Wayne Byczek, project manager in Stantec’s Kamloops, British Columbia office provided approximately 175 volunteer hours with the Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) Team. Made up of about 50 volunteers, members are all ages and from all walks of life. They share a common interest in providing important life-saving services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All team members are skilled in ground searches and are trained in the use of snowmobiles and utility terrain vehicles. Interested individuals can also receive further training in high-angle rope rescue, swift water rescue, ice rescue, and other specialized disciplines. The D4D grant Wayne was awarded will assist in fundraising efforts to build a permanent home for the KSAR to provide a place for volunteers to meet and train and to store the many pieces of life-saving equipment they use.
A team of eight runners from the UK’s Newcastle upon Tyne office participated in the Great North Run, a half marathon held to raise money for charity. The Stantec team chose to donate to WaterAid, an organization working to provide clean water, decent toilets, and proper personal hygiene for people around the world. In addition to pledges for running the race, the team raised £3,000 through office events such as bake sales, pub quizzes, and running clubs. The funds will go towards installing clean water taps and toilets to purchasing soap and menstrual hygiene products.
Civil engineer, Nicole Langedijk, began volunteering with RAD Bikes, Christchurch, New Zealand’s community bike workshop, around 2020 as a mechanic. RAD provides workshop space for community members to help recycle and learn how to fix bikes. Additionally, they run a variety of mechanical courses and special bike-focused events. Supported by RAD Bikes, Bike Bridge began as a group to teach female refugees how to ride a bike, then expanded to teach all women, regardless of their background, how to ride at no cost. Around 2023, Nicole took her mechanical skills to Bike Bridge and took on additional duties to teach road rules and take qualified cyclists on rides around town. Between both organizations, Nicole volunteers two nights each week plus every other weekend. The D4D grant she earned will specifically help fund Bike Bridge’s mission to connect, empower, ride.
Together, we have proved what a dedicated community can accomplish when we move forward with compassion and purpose. With gratitude for all we’ve achieved and excitement for what’s ahead, we step into the new year ready to continue the work, uplift more lives, and keep building the kind of future we’re proud to be part of. This year wasn’t just productive; it was inspiring, energizing, and filled with moments worth cheering for.
