A time of change needs a greater variety of supports
Middle school marks a new milestone and transition for students. For middle school students to effectively learn while also demonstrating workplace skills, exploring career options, engaging with their communities, and understanding civic responsibility, the environments that support their learning must be diverse.
What do diverse learning environments look like for middle school students? They accommodate self-directed learning, foster opportunities for peer-to-peer engagement, and offer spaces both large and small to host individual, small group, and large group instruction.
Innovative learning environments for middle schoolers are also adaptable and permit flexibility in the moment—as well as over time—in response to learning activities as well as the evolution of education. And finally, these spaces are inspiring, serving as a catalyst that reinforces lessons learned and invites students to pursue their newfound passions.
