Stantec is a designer on the new Douglas Commercial Land Port of Entry, which will boost economic growth and enhance border security
In southeast Arizona, Stantec recently joined project partners and leaders from all levels of government to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Douglas Commercial Land Port of Entry (LPOE). Stantec is part of a design-build team for the US$275 million project, which will increase safety and efficiency for commercial transportation at the US-Mexico border.
The new facility will enhance border security and boost economic growth across the region. With new inspection facilities, expanded capacity, and cutting-edge technology, the port will be a vital gateway for international commerce. The new LPOE will also alleviate traffic at the nearby Raul Hector Castro LPOE, which currently processes both commercial and non-commercial vehicles. Construction of the Douglas LPOE is anticipated to be completed in fall 2028.
