Stantec partners with The Nature Conservancy of Canada

April 15, 2026

The partnership will support ecosystem protection and climate resilience in Northern Ontario

Stantec has entered a year-long partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), Canada’s largest conservation organization, to support climate resilience and biodiversity protection efforts across the country. The Company’s financial contributions and volunteer efforts will help NCC protect ecologically significant forest landscapes in Ontario.

This partnership reinforces Stantec’s commitment to sustainabilitynature-based solutions, and protecting natural systems for clean water, healthy ecosystems, and long-term climate resilience. Since 1962, NCC has helped to protect and care for more than 20 million hectares of land across Canada.

“Healthy ecosystems are the foundation of healthy communities,” said Bjorn Morisbak, executive vice president and chief corporate development officer at Stantec. “We all have responsibility to act as stewards of the environment and our partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada will help safeguard wildlife habitat, clean water, and long-term climate resilience, leaving lasting benefits across Canada.”

Stantec will support NCC in advancing conservation in northern Ontario, helping to protect globally significant boreal forest. This project will strengthen ecological corridors, help mitigate climate change and biodiversity loss, and protect the habitat of species at risk, migratory birds, and wide-ranging mammals. Over 81,000 hectares of boreal forest, peatlands, wetlands, and freshwater systems will be conserved and cared for while delivering measurable climate benefits, including an estimated 50 million tonnes of carbon stored in peatlands alone.

In addition to financial support, Stantec employees will volunteer with NCC, including at an event in Ontario as part of the company’s 13th annual Stantec in the Community (SITC) Week. Last year, Stantec employees participated in a volunteer stewardship activity on an NCC property near Edmonton.
