Stantec earns Ambassador level on Workplace Pride 2022 Global Benchmark Report

Firm’s push to foster inclusive work environment leads to 15% gain over previous score

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has achieved Ambassador level in the Workplace Pride 2022 Global Benchmark report, highlighting the firm’s focus on inclusion, diversity& equity (ID&E) for employees around the world.

Created in 2014, the Workplace Pride Global Benchmark was designed to measure the LGBTIQ+ inclusion practices of internationally active employers. For 2022, Stantec earned a score of 76%, up from 60.9% the previous year, which was the first time the firm was graded against the Global Benchmark. On this year’s global benchmark, Stantec scored higher than average in all areas: Policy & Communication, Employee Network, Workplace Awareness, Support & Benefits, Inclusion & Engagement, Expertise & Monitoring, Business & Supplier Management, and Societal Impact.

“This recognition from Workplace Pride reinforces the great work our teams are doing around inclusion, diversity, and equity at Stantec,” said Asifa Samji, Stantec’s chief people & inclusion officer. “The work in this area is never done. The focus and prioritization around our ID&E efforts are baked into our Company’s culture, and the momentum is clear when we achieve results like this from Workplace Pride.”

Based in Amsterdam, Workplace Pride is a non-profit organization and corporate advisor dedicated to pushing the boundaries of LGBTIQ+ inclusion in the workplace through awareness, measurement, research, training, and network building. Workplace Pride developed the Global Benchmark with the support of the University of Leiden and major employers and nongovernmental organizations from several countries.

In May 2022, Stantec signed the Declaration of Amsterdam, a document developed by Workplace Pride. Stantec became the 39th international organization to sign the Declaration of Amsterdam, joining IBM, PwC, Shell, Microsoft, and others to commit to a safe and inclusive corporate culture.

The ERG also provides opportunities for education, career development, community impact, and adding client value. Its first chapter was established in 2017 in the Edmonton office, and it now counts 14 chapters around the world.

This year, Stantec also formalized a Global Pride Committee, which helps advance LGBTIQ+ inclusion and equity across the Company by recommending ways to make Stantec’s policies and practices more inclusive, coordinating LGBTIQ+ partnerships and programs, and supporting Pride@Stantec ERGs.
