Stantec secures planning permission for new homes in Lowton, Wigan
Wigan Council approves third phase of Bloor Homes’ Lowton Heath development

Stantec has secured full planning permission for the third and final phase of the Lowton Heath housing development in Wigan. Wigan Council’s Planning Committee approved the planning application on 22 September, ensuring that a total of 268 new homes will be built to meet local housing needs.
The Bloor Homes development will include a range of apartments as well as detached, semi-detached, and terraced houses. Of the 268 new homes, 25% will be affordable housing, providing opportunities for those struggling with the first step on the housing ladder.
Stantec has worked with Bloor Homes as planning consultant for its Lowton Heath development for several years. In 2017, Stantec secured full planning permission for an initial phase of 129 homes before securing permission for an additional phase of homes in 2019. Now, Wigan Council has resolved to grant full planning permission for the third phase of 69 homes at the development.
The Lowton Heath development is built on land that has been safeguarded to meet development needs within Wigan Council’s adopted Local Plan Core Strategy. The development has excellent rail links and is situated just off the A580 East Lancashire Road, providing good connections with the major areas of Manchester, Wigan and Liverpool.

The development will make a valuable contribution to the short-term need for market and affordable family homes, at a sustainable location.”
The multi-disciplinary team was led by Stantec, with masterplanning undertaken by Bloor Homes in-house.
