Stantec has been shortlisted in the Planning Awards 2020, a prestigious UK awards programme that rewards excellence in professional planning work, as well as related activities such as placemaking, urban design, economic development, housing, regeneration, legal advice, environmental consulting and property development.
Stantec is a finalist in three categories: Award for Promoting Economic Growth, Award for Planning for Affordable Housing and Award for Best Use of Brownfield Land in Placemaking.
In recognition of our work alongside the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), Ambitions for the North: A Spatial Framework for People and Places in the North of England has been shortlisted as it calls for a compelling vision which builds on the strengths of the North, and a joined-up approach to spatial planning across all Northern functional areas.
Stantec’s work on Upper Achintore housing development has also been recognised for planning sustainable, high-quality low-carbon affordable housing that responds to strong demand throughout Lochaber and the Highlands.
Also, Stantec’s work on the Scottish Marine Technology Park has been shortlisted. Stantec provided planning, EIA and remediation services to support Malin Group with the £10 million first phase of regeneration at the former Oil Terminal in Old Kilpatrick. This heavily contaminated industrial site on the River Clyde will be brought back to life as a centre of excellence for marine manufacturing.
Stantec is also delighted to be sponsoring this year’s Planning Awards, and has been involved in several other shortlisted entries, including:
- Beam Park, London, shortlisted for ‘Planning Permission of the Year’ and ‘Best Use of Publicly-owned Land and/or Property in Placemaking’
- Redevelopment of Waterbeach Barracks and Airfield, South Cambridgeshire, shortlisted for ‘Planning Permission of the Year’
- Alconbury Weald, shortlisted for ‘Award for Best Use of Heritage in Placemaking’
- Luton Town; Power Court and Newlands Park mixed-use developments, put forward by Pinsent Masons, which has been shortlisted as ‘Planning Law Firm of the Year’
The winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony at The Mermaid London on Thursday 24 September 2020.
