Homes England appoints Stantec to deliver new homes at Lighthorne Heath

Stantec will provide the infrastructure needed to help a community grow in the Midlands

03/03/2021 STRATFORD, UK TSX, NYSE:STN

Stantec has been appointed by Homes England to design the primary infrastructure required to create a new community of 1,000 new homes at Lighthorne Heath, Stratford-on-Avon District.

Homes England, the government’s housing accelerator, aims to ensure more homes are built at pace in areas of greatest need and improve affordability by creating a more resilient and diverse housing market. They have appointed Stantec to provide the services needed to bring new homes to Warwickshire, in a place of high-quality design.

Collaboration will play an important role in the delivery of the scheme. Stantec worked alongside Barton Willmore, RLB and edp to secure the appointment and will be working with the wider team to provide planning, landscape, masterplanning, project management, cost consultancy, ecology, arboriculture and archaeology services.

The residential-led scheme involves the creation of new community facilities including sports pitches and a local cafe, to create the heart of the new community as well as new homes. Stantec has been asked to advise on the infrastructure delivery for the whole development, as Homes England take the role of Master Developer and explore modern methods of construction.

Commenting on the appointment, Dan Griffiths, Director, Transport, Stantec said: “Communities are fundamental to what we do at Stantec and we’re very pleased to be able to help the community in Lighthorne Heath grow. We’ve selected a specific and strong team to support us, and we are all delighted and proud to be working collaboratively to deliver many much-needed new homes.”

Raj Sanghera and Andrew Carter, Senior Planning and Enabling Managers at Homes England, said “This is a timely appointment of a multi-discipline consultancy team who will be driving the project at pace to support Homes England in bringing development parcels to the market in 2021/22.  An early milestone has already been met in the submission of detailed Phasing Plans to the Planning Authority, and we’re on track to hit the submission of the Reserved Matters in March 2021.”

The Stantec team will be providing services that range from the preparation of reserved matters applications through to work onsite, including highway design, drainage, earthworks, acoustics, ground conditions, geo-environmental, air quality and utilities.

Stantec has been a member of the Homes England Multidisciplinary Framework Panel since 2014. The framework was renewed in 2018 and Stantec was reappointed to continue to support the delivery of housing to meet government targets.

Since 2014, Stantec has been appointed to many projects through the framework ranging from high level due diligence advice to detailed design and delivery schemes.
