Stantec announces partnership with LandAid

Fundraising efforts will be donated to LandAid’s aim to ending youth homelessness

09/29/2021 UNITED KINGDOM TSX, NYSE:STN

Stantec has partnered with property sector charity LandAid as one of its corporate partners to join its mission to end youth homelessness. Through its 2021 graduate recruitment campaign, Stantec will support LandAid in its work through fundraising, pro bono opportunities, and profile-raising programmes. LandAid unites over 200 organisations working together to bring an end to youth homelessness.

Earlier in the year Stantec became a Campaign Partner for LandAid’s First Step Campaign that aims to fund eight vital emergency accommodation projects across the country. Stantec’s donation has been specifically donated to Roundabout - South Yorkshire’s charity supporting young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The funding will help Roundabout to source six new units of accommodation for young homeless people in the private rented sector. With demand rising for its services, this is needed more than ever. The accommodation will be based around Housing First principles, enabling young homeless people to directly access the accommodation. Stantec is also supporting initiatives with It Takes A City to get 10 homeless people off the streets and into transition accommodation.

In 2019-2020, an estimated 120,000 young people reached out for help because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness. LandAid has a target of providing 1000 beds for young homeless people over the next three years.

Stantec’s donation would previously have been used on single-use plastics in its graduate and apprentice recruitment campaign. Future initiatives from Stantec include participation in the pro-bono programme, including further support to the project in Cambridge, advice on other sites and campaigns, and an internal fundraising campaign. Stantec has a target to become a Foundation Partner with LandAid with a commitment to raise £10,000.

Kaya Lee, Head of Talent Acquisition at Stantec, said: “We’re delighted to partner and support LandAid and its vital work in communities across the country. With this first donation, it was also important for our donation to align with our climate change commitments and remove single use plastics from our campaign. Through our graduate & apprentice recruitment programme, we look forward to more opportunities to raise money, share experiences from our graduates who are ambassadors and volunteers with LandAid, and raise the profile of this important mission to ending youth homelessness.”

Simon Darch, who leads on community benevolence for the Infrastructure and Buildings business unit said: “As a leading development consultant imbedded in the property sector and passionate about Social Value, it was a natural fit for us to team up with LandAid. It also provides great synergy with the amazing work that our Water business does with WaterAid. We share a common mission in a desire to improve our communities, and we were particularly impressed with their initiatives to not only help youth homelessness but to break the cycle.”
