Stantec appointed to Transport Scotland’s Roads Based Transportation Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy Services Framework

11/17/2021 UNITED KINGDOM TSX, NYSE:STN

Transport Scotland has appointed Stantec to its Roads Based Transportation Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy Services Framework to deliver road-related infrastructure projects in Scotland over the next four years.

The £40 million Framework was established to secure the availability and services of experienced multi-disciplinary consultants. Eight consultants were shortlisted with five successfully being awarded a place on the Framework. As one of the successful consultants Stantec will work with Transport Scotland on a wide range of transportation schemes anticipated from the second Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR2).

Commenting on the appointment, John Owens, Director, Roads, Stantec said: “We’re very pleased with this appointment and with the opportunity to work with Transport Scotland on delivering STPR2 projects. The client felt our team showed a welcome depth of resource, a strong approach to the application of standards and process, and the commitment of key personnel. The Stantec team are now looking forward to building relationships through the Framework to shape infrastructure that will create transport solutions to benefit the environment and communities across Scotland.”

Transport Scotland published STPR2 to inform the Scottish Government’s transport investment programme over the next 20 years. STPR2 takes a national overview of the transport network with a focus on regions and will help deliver the vision, priorities and outcomes that are set out in the new National Transport Strategy (NTS2), published in February 2020.

Through Our place on the Framework Stantec will be expected to work on trunk road projects, road safety improvements, bus priority schemes, active travel schemes, managed motorways, intelligent transport solutions, light rail, asset renewal schemes, and environmental offsetting or compensatory schemes. The Stantec team will maintain a close working relationship with Transport Scotland, contractors, consultants, third parties, and other stakeholders.

All Framework projects will support the delivery of the national priorities and outcomes by making recommendations on a range of targeted measures to achieve a reduction in travel demand and a mode shift to more sustainable modes such as walking, cycling and public transport.

Dougie McDonald, Director, Regional Director (UK) Transport, Stantec, commented: “Our team worked with Transport Scotland to develop the new National Transport Strategy and it is a privilege to be able to work with them on the projects that will bring that strategy to life. The schemes that Stantec will deliver through the new Framework will help realise the vision set out by NTS2, that of a more sustainable, inclusive, safe and accessible transport system which helps to deliver a healthier, fairer and more prosperous Scotland for communities, businesses and visitors.”
