Esh-Stantec JV achieves shortlisting success at Constructing Excellence & Generation for Change North East Awards

04/14/2022 NEWCASTLE, UK TSX, NYSE:STN

Esh-Stantec - a joint venture company formed between Esh Construction and Stantec to deliver Northumbrian Water’s Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Framework has been shortlisted for two projects, at this year’s Constructing Excellence in the North East (CENE) awards. Additionally, Stantec’s India Hutchinson has been named as a finalist for the Generation for Change (G4C) New Professional of the Year award.

The CENE awards are a celebration of everything the North East Built Environment has to be proud of and this year the awards celebrate its seventeenth annual ceremony. Winners are selected across various categories including Innovation, Integration & Collaborative Working, Value, Digital Construction and MMC. The G4C North East awards, also part of Constructing Excellence, seek to harness the power of new people in the industry to make changes for the better and improve the way we work together.

We are delighted to be shortlisted in the Integration & Collaborative Working category for our work on two major schemes.

Johnson Street Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) Screening Project - The Johnson Street CSO screening project is designed to protect the River Tyne from aesthetic pollution improving river quality for the benefit of customers, wildlife and the environment. It is an excellent example of collaborative working with framework partners and stakeholders within a global pandemic delivering a sustainable project realising multiple benefits.

Northumbrian Water Drainage & Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP) - The DWMP stands out as a unique and exemplary example of integration and collaborative working. From the very early days of the DWMP, the client, technical consultant and external stakeholders have operated in the spirit of one-team demonstrating a desire for all agencies in the region to make a plan that brings societal benefits and makes the northeast a great place to live.

Finally, we are delighted for India Hutchinson who has been shortlisted in the G4C New Professional of the Year award. India joined Stantec as a Graduate in 2019 and is currently working within the Esh-Stantec JV. Recently promoted to Civil Engineer, this is great recognition of India’s fantastic work on several major reservoir upgrade and maintenance projects and of her leadership and mentoring skills.

Winners of the G4C Awards will be announced in May and winners of the CENE Awards at the Annual Ceremony held in June respectively.

Following the ceremony, the regional winners will then go onto the National final in Autumn.
