VisitScotland and Stantec have launched a community engagement survey for the development of the proposed Shetland Way. The survey, being conducted by Stantec on behalf of VisitScotland, aims to gather views, insights, and suggestions from local residents, previous and potential future visitors to Shetland.
The Shetland Way is a proposed walking route that would run for circa 80 miles from north to south along the spine of Shetland, linking the islands’ considerable natural, cultural and community assets for social, economic and environmental benefit.
The objective of the Shetland Way is to attract more visitors to the islands and provide additional walking and potentially cycling opportunities for local residents. VisitScotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Shetland Islands Council, NatureScot and Shetland Tourism Association are developing the project. Stantec UK Ltd has been commissioned to undertake the feasibility study.
To participate in the survey, and for further project information including routes, protection of native species and birds, and links to other transport connections, visit Shetland Way (arcgis.com)
The survey takes 10 minutes to complete, and the deadline is midnight Thursday 14 April. All responses are anonymous. For paper versions or to complete it by phone, contact 01312 977019 or ShetlandWay@stantec.com
