Stantec shortlisted for four 2023 Utility Week Awards

The Company's forward-thinking approach is driving innovation in the water sector

11/20/2023 LONDON, UK TSX, NYSE:STN

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been shortlisted in four categories at the 2023 Utility Week Awards. The interdisciplinary firm is in the running for both ‘Utility Partner of the Year’ and ‘Built Environment Partner of the Year’, as well as the ‘Innovation’, and ‘Unlocking Data’ awards.

The Utility Week Awards are dedicated to recognising the positive and progressive contributions in UK utilities. Stantec works closely alongside water companies to deliver cutting edge, sustainable, and community-focused solutions for the industry’s biggest challenges.

Stantec was shortlisted for Utility Partner of the Year and Built Environment Partner of the Year due to its ongoing work to futureproof the industry through collaboration and innovation. Through projects like the integrated constructed wetland at Clifton Wastewater Treatment Works as well as those delivered with the Living with Water partnership, the company is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible when it comes to supporting the water sector.

Stantec’s nomination for the ‘Unlocking Data’ award stems from its project with Yorkshire Water on the Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal Digital Site Capture initiative. Here, Stantec used drone surveys to build high-resolution photogrammetry-based 3D models of assets to aid in constructability reviews. This process helped Yorkshire Water remove the carbon emissions and H&S risks which are associated with traditional physical surveys.

Stantec’s work with Yorkshire Water, StormHarvester, and Technolog resulted in a nomination for The Innovation award. The project group set up and implemented a catchment-scale smart wastewater network. The scheme, put forward for consideration by Yorkshire Water, is leveraging innovative network monitoring devices and predictive analytics via machine learning.

Scott Jackson, regional business lead for Water, Stantec, commented: “It’s fantastic for Stantec to be recognised as industry-leading. The challenges the water sector faces impact everyone and we need a holistic approach coupled with innovative thinking. I’m proud our teams are making a significant impact in the sector using their creative and technical expertise.”

The 2023 Utility Week Awards ceremony will be held on 5 December at The Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
