Stantec’s Emerging Talent Celebrated at Future Water Awards

Four of Stantec’s developing professionals were recognised at the prestigious industry event

Four process engineers working at Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, have picked up accolades at this year’s Future Water Awards.

Caledonia Bhatia was named winner in the Emerging Professional category at the event, while Helen McAll and Belinda Watson were both Highly Commended. Mariani De Mattos was also Highly Commended in the Above and Beyond category.

The Future Water Awards, run by the Future Water Association, aims to celebrate positive contributions to the UK’s water sector and was held on 18th March.

The Emerging Professionals category sought those who had shown leadership qualities and a desire to shape a different future in the last year. Caledonia Bhatia is wellbeing lead for a Stantec office with more than 150 people and in her two and a half years at the firm has worked on a range of innovative water and environmental projects for various clients. In doing so, she has gained continued praise for her passion and expertise from internal and external stakeholders. 

She was also instrumental in a facilitating a roundtable event at the Institution of Civil Engineers’ Head Office in 2023, bringing together senior representatives from UK water suppliers to discuss progress throughout Asset Management Plan (AMP) 8.

Helen McCall was recognised for her conscientious approach, her attention to detail, and her diligence when leading on a range of complex water project work. Belinda Watson picked up a Highly Commended accolade due to her ability to grasp and tackle complex problems and to encourage, support, and mentor junior team-members. 

Mariani De Mattos was recognised in the Above and Beyond category after showing an ability to lead on projects, find new ways to increase efficiency, and challenge traditional thinking.
