Reconstructing and rehabilitating for improved aircraft circulation

Taking place over three years in multiple phases, this improvement project was critical to help the airport handle larger aircraft and increase its air cargo business.  Construction began with Phase I, which included the reconstruction and rehabilitation of several taxiways and aprons. The reconstruction and rehabilitation for the intersection of Runway 06-24 and 11-29 was also part of this construction phase. Phase II of construction was focused on the strengthening and rehabilitation of Runway 11-29, the rehabilitation of several existing taxiways and the reconstruction of an abandoned existing taxiway.

Understanding how airports operate, we helped plan construction efforts to minimize impact on airside operations. Throughout both phases we provided the pavement evaluation and cost effective rehabilitation alternatives. We also completed continuous QA testing and inspection for subgrade preparation, gravel production and compaction, and asphalt production and placement. While several contract items contained cost adjustment clauses, our QA testing helped determine whether or not the product was acceptable to use.
