Stantec opens new office in the centre of Edinburgh

Stantec unites its Water, Energy, Community Development and Transportation teams in the heart of the city

10/24/2022 EDINBURGH, UNITED KINGDOM TSX, NYSE:STN

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has officially opened its new office in the centre of Edinburgh. Located in the Capital Square building, the workspace will unite the company’s teams from around Edinburgh bringing them together in a central hub that accommodates Stantec’s growing presence.

The new office sits in the middle of Edinburgh’s Exchange District, the commercial heart of the city, and close to Haymarket Station. It now provides a valuable base from which Stantec’s teams can strengthen and develop relationships with their clients and local businesses. With tram services, bike and bus routes providing quick links to the wider city and Edinburgh Airport, the new location makes it easy for Stantec colleagues to stay connected to communities throughout the region.

Stantec plans, designs, delivers and manages the development of the infrastructure needed to support the creation of sustainable, healthy, and prosperous communities. With over 2,100 employees in the UK, and more than 26,000 worldwide, the company provides effective, relevant solutions that create real social value for communities. 168 people will initially be based out of the new Edinburgh office.

Stantec has been shaping communities in Scotland for many years, working on several high-profile projects including Coire Glas, the Scottish National Transport Strategy, the Arran Distillery and the UK Medicine Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC) among others. The team will also continue to work on the m2 joint venture, that supports Scottish Water (SW) with strategic and technical consultancy services as SW deliver their Capital Programme and plan for future investment.

Stantec’s Scotland Operations Director, Simon Crewe commented: “Stantec designs with community in mind and our new Edinburgh office places us right at the dynamic heart of the city allowing us to strengthen ties with all surrounding communities. We’ve had a strong presence in the region for a long time, but this move allows us to bring our teams together into a unified presence, so they’re better placed to support our clients. In addition, it will enable us to tap into the local business and technical community, attracting new talent to our growing team.”

Sustainability underpins all of Stantec’s work, and its office locations are no different. Capital Square’s approach to sustainability aligns with its own, as the building incorporates solar panels, energy efficient lighting and an electric VRF heating and cooling system. The building has a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and EPC ‘A’ rating. It has also been received the BCO award for Best Commercial Workplace in Scotland and the International Green Apples Environmental Award for its approach to biodiversity.
