Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been named both ‘Utility Partner of the Year’ and ‘Built Environment Partner of the Year’, at this year’s Utility Week Awards.

These are the latest in a series of industry-leading accolades picked up by Stantec for its work in the UK and Ireland in 2023. The Company also won ‘Consultancy of the Year’ at the NCE Awards as well as 'Engineering Consultancy of the Year’ at the Water Industry Awards

The Utility Week Awards recognise industry leading best practice in the UK’s utilities sector. Stantec was chosen as Utility Partner of the Year and Built Environment Partner of the Year due to its ongoing work alongside water companies to futureproof the industry through collaboration and innovation.

Through projects like the integrated constructed wetland at Clifton Wastewater Treatment Works in North Yorkshire as well as those delivered with the Living with Water partnership in Hull, the company is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible when it comes to supporting the water sector.

Stantec prioritises sustainability throughout its operations, and achieved operational carbon neutrality in 2022, a major milestone in the progressive route to science-based operational net zero. The firm has also recently attained PAS 2080 accreditation. This industry-accepted mark of trust from the British Standards Institution confirms Stantec’s commitment to carbon reduction and cost efficiency for its own business and for its clients.

Scott Jackson, UK & Ireland regional business lead for Water, Stantec, commented: “2023 has been an incredible year for Stantec in terms of our industry-leading project work and the level of resulting recognition. There is a challenging but monumentally important journey ahead for the water sector to take. As an industry, we need to gear up to put solutions and resources in place that will safeguard its future.

“We know that by partnering closely with our clients, sharing our knowledge, and taking a forward thinking and sustainable approach to projects, we can support the long-term resilience of our water networks.”

The 2023 Utility Week Awards ceremony was held on 5 December at The Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
