Stantec’s International Development team in Belgium has welcomed Senior Energy Expert Eliott Joseph as part of a commitment to become a go-to partner for international donor clients, such as the European Commission and World Bank, in the global energy transition towards sustainable sources.
In his role, Joseph will employ his experience in the energy sector to drive forward the team’s strategy and work with clients to support their commitment towards decarbonisation of the economy. Joseph’s educational background includes Master’s Degrees in both Business and Engineering, with a specialty in Energy Economics. Professionally, he has worked in corporate strategy departments of large-scale utility companies across Europe, giving him a deep understanding of the key long-term challenges faced by the energy sector, as well as managed a team in the Strategy and New Business department of an energy consultancy firm. All of this lends well to his new role at Stantec, which will be both internal and external facing.
In addition to the work Joseph has already begun on projects such as renewable hydrogen development in Kenya for the EU Global Technical Assistance Facility for Sustainable Energy (EU GTAF) and on Regulatory Indicators for Sustainable Energy (RISE) in Central and Western Africa for the World Bank, he has also been tasked with leading the International Development sustainable energy team. As part of this role, he will develop and actualize a strategy to connect relevant colleagues from across Stantec’s global network of 22,000 employees, employ knowledge-sharing best practices within the Belgium operation, and position the sustainable energy team externally.
“We are thrilled to welcome Eliott to the team,” says Christophe Leroy, Operations Director for Stantec in Belgium. “He has the right blend of client experience and business acumen to help us map the most impactful areas for our team within the energy transition, while also being able to act as a trusted advisor for our clients. Together with our roster of energy experts such as Alexandros Grivas and Lea Tatry, Eliott will continue to build our presence and be a regular partner with our clients.”
“It seems I’ve found Stantec at the right moment,” said Eliott Joseph. “There is visible momentum growing around the energy transition, both within the team in terms of size and attention put on energy subjects, as well as with global focus on the topic, as I’m sure we’ll see confirmed in the upcoming COP26. I’m excited for this opportunity to work with this highly experienced group of colleagues to lead the change we hope to see in the space in the coming years.”
