With over 17 years of experience, Carl provides technical expertise and management services related to the design, construction, operation, and closure of tailings facilities. He has operational and design experience with conventional, thickened, and filtered tailing facilities, and he’s participated in projects in Canada, Argentina, Turkey, Bolivia, the US, Mexico, and Brazil. On these projects he’s implemented best management practices and then trained mine personnel, engineers, and technicians.
His pragmatic approach supports corporate mining clients and their operations worldwide with the development and implementation of a risk-based tailings and water management system as well as effective dam safety and surveillance programs. He regularly performs dam safety reviews and independent inspections for tailings facilities and embankment dams.
An active member of the working tailings group of the Mining Association of Canada (MAC), Carlos has been a part of the organization since 2014 and is in the process of updating the third edition of their tailings management guidelines.
