Laura has been dedicated to educational facility design and thought leadership for more than 15 years. Her passion for life-long learning—and sharing that knowledge with others—has inspired her to share her expertise with others through regional and national industry conferences and events that support continuing education. She has presented on topics such as innovative learning environments, school safety and security, resilience, and sustainable design solutions that benefit building end users.
Laura believes that impactful design comes from a culture of learning and is committed to innovation in education through continual discovery. She connects thought leadership throughout the firm and leads Stantec’s Research + Benchmarking (R+B) program that provides an internal framework to increase collective knowledge, explore industry trends, and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of Stantec designs.
Laura is gives back to her community in many capacities. She serves on the board of the Houston AIA, is the chairperson for the TxA School Safety Work Group and is active in the resilience conversation in Houston and beyond. In 2018 she spearheaded the Houston Resiliency Innovation Workshop which pulled more than 50 experts and local stakeholders together to create holistic solutions for a more resilient future in Houston. In 2014, Laura was named the Young Architect of the Year by the Houston AIA, and in 2017, she was named to Engineering News-Record's National Top 20 Under 40.
