John has been a practice and thought leader in the education sector for almost 30 years including owning his own architectural firm for 20. In his principal-in-charge role, John has directed efforts related to marketing, business development, client development, planning, design, documentation, and construction. He also enjoys speaking and presenting to professional organizations as well as mentoring staff across disciplines.
Recently, John had the opportunity to coordinate and lead a team that performed a facility assessment and developed a long-range facilities masterplan on fourteen high schools in Fort Worth, Texas. Using a custom rubric for facility assessment, John worked hand in hand with campus principals to assess their needs—$2 billion. That led to a $750 million bond election, the largest bond election in Tarrant County history.
Outside of work, John has an alter ego—as a chef. He enjoys the process and art of cooking and creating beautiful food, and he cooks without recipes. His passions are building flavor profiles or deconstructing a prepared dish to make it his own. His signature dish? Ossobuco with toasted pine nut gremolata.
