As the Spokane office lead, Riley’s responsibilities include top-line business growth for a buildings group, a civil engineering group, and a survey and geomatics group. He’s also an account manager and project manager. Riley’s expertise is in planning, with an emphasis on real estate development. As a private commercial developer, before joining Stantec, Riley managed sizeable commercial portfolios for corporate clients.
For Riley, the most rewarding part of his work is taking ideas and concepts and creating tangible results. For example, when the City of Spokane was renovating Riverfront Park (originally built in 1974 for the Worlds Fair), Riley introduced the idea of an ice ribbon instead of a traditional ice skating oval. The City hadn’t seen our ice ribbon designs elsewhere in the US, and they liked the pitch. This solution saved greenspace and lowered projected energy and operating costs.
A coach and father to three young boys, Riley is usually found after work hours on a football or baseball field. When he’s not helping kids reach their full potential, Riley might be otherwise enjoying the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
