An award-winning example of our innovative approach to design and engineering, using sustainable construction methods
Bridport House, the first phase of the Colville Estate Renewal Programme for the London Borough of Hackney, had more than 400 homes as well as ten shops and community facilities. The council's proposal was to develop the site to include approximately 900 homes with between one and four bedrooms, more than half of which are for social renting, shared ownership, and shared equity.
Stantec provided structural and civil engineering along with geotechnical, MEP, ecological, transport planning, flood risk assessment, energy, and sustainability services. Our design puts the development at the forefront of modern methods of construction (MMC), utilising recycled aero carbon timber panel construction. At the time it was also one of the largest buildings in the world to have utilised cross-laminated timber (CLT) technology.
Our commitment to managing carbon footprint and environmental efficiencies resulted in a 10% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, water conservation, and enhanced biodiversity. The scheme achieved a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and Lifetime Homes Gold Standard.
