Battery Manufacturer BMC1 CAM2 Cathode Active Material Facility
With our guidance, a Confidential Battery Manufacturer is now operating one of North America’s largest battery recycling and material manufacturing hubs. It’s a 175-acre (71-hectare) campus designed to redefine the industry. The CAM2 project includes a new three-story, 105-foot (32-metre), 340,000-square-foot (31,587-square-metre) facility dedicated to cathode active material (CAM) production. Using a performance‑driven design approach, our team helped provide seamless operations by optimizing material flow, logistics, and utilities.
To bring this vision to life, the team provided employee augmentation engineering and design expertise, driving the development of high-performance industrial spaces. The team delivered architectural shell and interior design, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for production and cleanroom environments, process gas infrastructure including oxygen and carbon-free air, low- and medium-voltage electrical systems, and instrumentation and controls infrastructure design.
The project was organized into phased design packages, including a cold core and shell phase covering structural foundations, the architectural shell, and primary steel framework; a base building scope addressing architectural detailing, life safety, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) distribution, and structural utility supports; and a tool install phase focused on precision-designed utility connections for CAM production equipment.
With an innovative, phased approach, this facility is built for efficiency and leading-edge recycling and material manufacturing—a key step toward a more sustainable energy future.
