Creating a design that reflects international influence
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) decided to relocate their headquarters, making the jump from Cambridge to Boston’s Financial District. As a leading innovator in worldwide healthcare, they sought to create a space that incorporated their global presence with an enhanced sense of community. Understanding that finding the right fit and design for their new home was critical for the success of their organization, IHI engaged our team to help re-imagine the way they work and build upon the rich office culture they have.
As part of the pre-design process, we collaborated with IHI and their broker, JLL, to research, study, and develop tailored strategies and solutions that support IHI’s evolving services and space needs. We surveyed, studied, brainstormed, and spoke with a large cross-section of employees to develop, test, and implement flexible design strategies. A planning approach was implemented that organizes the open workspace into smaller neighborhoods separated by groupings of shared offices and dedicated webinar and teaming rooms. This approach not only filled a gap in meeting spaces, but also provided much needed acoustic relief to the open office.
Equipped with unique finishes from around the world and a welcoming environment, IHI’s new home is a true reflection of their organization’s mission as a partner in global healthcare.
