Brooke Hay

Principal Environmental Scientist

Photo of Brooke

When Brooke was little, her family went on camping holidays where she would always observe and prod at nature. Her parents used to call her Harry Butler, after the famed Australian naturalist. Now, as an environmental scientist with almost 20 years of experience working in consultancy and government, she leads her own team of devoted nature specialists.

During her career, Brooke has filled many on-site and office-based environmental and safety secondment roles for clients including Roy Hill, where she worked closely with traditional owners on native vegetation clearing programs. Some of her most rewarding experiences have included involvement in studies where she documented the aquatic ecology of inland salt lakes during a flood, as well as relocations of the northern quoll in the Pilbara and the smokey mouse in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales.

When Brooke isn’t designing and implementing aquatic ecosystem surveys and ecotoxicity assessments, she enjoys spending time with her dog, kitten, and staying active by training in Muay Thai and participating in half marathons.
