Stantec to participate in Montreal’s light rail network (REM) project
Joining Groupe NouvLR for one of Quebec’s most important public transit projects

Design firm Stantec will participate, along with Consortium Groupe NouvLR, in one of Quebec’s most important public transit projects—the Réseau express métropolitain (REM)—Montreal’s light rail network. The Groupe NouvLR joint venture was retained for the infrastructure engineering, procurement and construction of this project.
The REM is an entirely automated electric light rail transit (LRT) system that will connect Downtown Montreal with the South Shore, West Island, North Shore, and Montreal-Trudeau international airport. As the world’s fourth biggest network (covering 67 kilometres and 26 stations), it will be linked to the metropolitan region’s existing public transit systems (subway, commuter trains, and buses). The REM project will go down in history as the largest integrated public transit infrastructure for Quebec since the Montreal subway.
Stantec will carry out design engineering for the construction of infrastructures―primarily in the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Airport, and Deux-Montagnes sectors. Stantec brings to the project design expertise in railway, roads, bridges, storm water management, buildings, community development, and transportation planning. Stantec will also play a role in the project’s environmental aspects, including permitting, assessment studies, environmental plan monitoring, and environmental monitoring during the works.
