Reflecting on the broad impact urban development has on our community and lifestyle, the Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards recognise those developments that achieve the best outcomes for all stakeholders in terms of client requirements, environment, business and community considerations; as well as time, cost and quality.

Developed by Greenland Australia and designed by Durback Block Jaggers Architects, Omnia is characterised by its curvaceous hourglass shaped glass-clad façade sitting atop a sculptured podium and is ideally located between Victoria Street and Darlinghurst Road, Potts Point.

With breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour, Sydney CBD and Rushcutters Bay, Omnia captures world-class architecture with its 18 luxury apartment tower built on the site of the former Crest Hotel and includes 135 high-end apartments and two levels of retail offerings. Design features included:

  • Luxury one, two- and three-bedroom residences and penthouses
  • Retail and major supermarket
  • Perfectly manicured open-air podium gardens with lush green landscaping and BBQ facilities

Stantec provided full detailed design of acoustics, electrical, fire protection, hydraulics, mechanical, sustainability and vertical transportation. The most difficult challenge was incorporating traditional residential unit services into the existing building with a 2850mm floor to floor height. The curved façade added some additional challenges with drainage and services integration.

“We are proud to have worked on this iconic Sydney project. Congratulations to our clients Greenland Australia and everyone involved in the project,” says Stantec’s Hydraulics Project Engineer, David Steblina.
