Optus Stadium wins Prix Versailles 2019 World Architecture Design Award

Optus Stadium was awarded the Prix Versailles 2019 Sports Award and officially named the most beautiful sporting facility in the world.

07/17/2019 PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The Optus Stadium scooped the international award from five other stadiums, adding to the numerous accolades the Stadium has received since opening its doors in January 2018.

The prestigious international award recognises and celebrates commercial architecture from around the world and is judged by an independent panel which includes a mix of renowned architects, designers, and prolific figures in the arts. The panel judged the finalists on their innovation, creativity, reflection of local, natural and cultural heritage, energy efficiency, and values of social interaction and participation.

New York’s Louise Armstrong Stadium was awarded the Special Prize for Interior, and China’s Hangzhou Sports Park Stadium was awarded the Special Prize for Exterior.

Stantec worked closely with Architects and Multiplex throughout the project and are proud to have provided expertise across multi-disciplines including electrical, fire engineering, fire protection, mechanical, security services, sustainability and vertical transportation.

“The Optus Stadium is truly a world-class venue for Western Australia.” says Stantec Principal and Electrical Project Engineer, Lilliana Mironov.

“It has been a great honour working on this project and this award is a tribute to the effort and hard work by everyone involved.”

Congratulations to the visionary architectural team at HASSELLCox and HKS. Special thanks and congratulations go to Multiplex, and the wider team for the accolade.

Award winners will come together at the UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, in September 2019 for the Prix Versailles World Ceremony.
