Stantec celebrates grand opening of Mary’s Hall and Parliament Village at Texas Woman’s University

New residential complex provides much needed on-campus housing at the University’s Denton campus

Texas Woman’s University (TWU) celebrated the completion of its newest residential complex, Mary’s Hall and Parliament Village, with a grand opening event. Located at the University’s campus in Denton, Texas, the 875-bed facility will support the tremendous growth in student enrollment over the past decade while promoting a strong living/learning residential community across the campus. Stantec served as Architect of Record and provided full architectural and engineering services for the residential complex.

Mary’s Hall and Parliament Village includes three multi-story Georgian buildings featuring pod-style living quarters as well as properly scaled communal baths with private bathroom and shower stalls. Additional amenities include lounge spaces, study areas, community gathering places, and a 700-seat dining facility. The facility also provides new residence life offices, multipurpose classrooms and makerspaces, and three faculty apartments.

The residential village is exclusive to sophomore-level students, responding to the University’s need for financially accessible housing for first- and second-year students as well as a strong facility development plan to support both the residence life program and the expected housing demand over the next decade.

“Through proper scale and collaborative space, the residential village was designed to serve and support the often-overlooked sophomore level student who, separated from the newness of a freshman and the established chosen path of a junior, is at a most critical point in their academic career,” said Morrison.

Stantec’s Texas-based team of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, structural engineers, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers worked together with Texas Woman’s University and Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions as part of a public-private partnership (P3) to deliver the 187,000-square-foot, $68 million complex on time and under budget.

Stantec has offices throughout Texas that include professionals providing services in architecture and interior design; civil, structural, and MEP engineering; surveying; land planning and landscape architecture; transportation; water and wastewater engineering; environmental services; power; and oil & gas.
