03/11/2020 TORONTO, ON TSX,NYSE:STN

We are pleased to announce that Senior Electrical Engineer Mie Takahashi has joined Stantec’s buildings team. Mie, based in our Markham, ON, office, will focus on supporting Stantec’s airports practice with the design of airfield lighting systems. She brings more than 18 years of engineering experience in airport planning design, project management, and contract administration at airports across Canada, Japan, the Bahamas, and Ecuador.

“We’re delighted to welcome Mie to Stantec, and we’re excited to see how her extensive Canadian and international experience shapes her work on airfield lighting systems,” says Josh Hale, who leads and manages the Ottawa buildings group, to which Mie will report. “I’ve already noted Mie’s commitment to creating practical solutions – the kind that will result in happy clients.”

Mie has completed design and construction assignments for all aspects of airfield lighting, field electric centres, and control and monitoring systems for over 60 Canadian airports, including remote airports in Nunavut and northern Ontario. She has also designed security and IT systems for passenger terminal buildings, airport operation centres, fire stations, fuel stations, and other airport support facilities.

“I’m excited to join Stantec, and eager to work on some interesting projects,” says Mie. “I love the challenge of delivering a design that will make the airport experience enjoyable for everyone. I always put myself in the place of a traveler or client and apply those insights to my work.”

Mie’s extensive international experience includes work on Hamad International Airport in Qatar, Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana, Lynden Pindling International Airport in the Bahamas, Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Ecuador, and Narita International Airport in Japan.
