With over 25 years of experience, Fortunato is a mining engineer specializing in open pit mining and environmental management. As a project manager, he leads multidisciplinary teams working on projects requiring strict environmental management.
Fortunato has developed extensive experience in Canadian provincial and federal regulatory requirements for new mining projects and mining-related activities. He has provided technical assistance on environmental issues and prepared environmental reports for mine site rehabilitation, closure plans, and waste rock characterization projects. Working with Cree communities, municipalities, and the forestry industry, he provides technical support for their environmental needs.
A sports enthusiast, Fortunato plays hockey and is a member of his local swim club.
