With more than 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience, Mike is passionate about the use of technology and enhanced dam monitoring practices that make dam operations and mining projects safer and more sustainable. His focus on the enhancement of dam safety management systems allows project and client teams to achieve greater efficiency and confidence in making important operational and management decisions.
Mike is best known for geotechnical performance monitoring using discretized sensor networks, automated systems, GIS based inspection and monitoring systems, and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) analysis. He is leading an exciting and innovative project designed to increase accessibility of InSAR data through a customized web application, enabling project teams and clients to compute and visualize ground deformations over user defined areas using satellite-based radar technology.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys travel with his wife and kids, making and eating great food, and outdoor recreation in the mountain parks of Utah.
