A civil engineer with diverse technical expertise in design and construction, Susan has worked in both the private and public sectors throughout her career. She joined Stantec after a successful career at the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), where she was the state location and design engineer. As the division administrator, Susan was responsible for all nine construction districts and their development of construction plans and estimates to deliver VDOT’s Six-Year Improvement Plan.
Now, as part of our Virginia Transportation leadership team, Susan is focused on helping expand Stantec’s reputation and business within Virginia’s roadway infrastructure industry. She works on transportation roadway design policy, performance-based practical design, and innovation in the roadway design sector. Her main priority is to assemble a solid roadway design team that can execute contract tasks and ensure projects meet or exceed client expectations.
When Susan isn’t building partnerships and high-performing teams, you’ll probably find her and her twin 10-year-old boys volunteering in the local community. If not that, the family might be outdoors working on building projects, gardening, or camping, or Susan might be finding something new to learn—from leadership development to home-schooling methods to small engine repair.
