Andrew gets enjoyment from the huge diversity of jobs he works on. One day, he might be commissioning computer resources for a web-app/database, and the next day, he might be coding script to connect to various API calls. If that all sounds a bit like gibberish, then as a Senior Data and Systems Engineer, Andrew is the right person to explain it.
With a background in computer systems engineering, Andrew’s job is to help clients find and create value from data. For example, he helps his clients take complex data sets and translate them into self-service portals that are manageable and easy to understand. He sees himself as an expert guide, seeking pathways in the data that lead to desired outcomes. One large project that he is proud of, was assisting with the strategic wastewater network design for Yarra Valley Water. Using various data sources such as elevation, soil survey, and road networks Andrew and his team used data science to find solutions to connect over 10,000 unsewered properties to the wastewater network.
Outside of work he enjoys his newly purchased house, hanging out with friends, and playing board games (perhaps even all at once).
