While Matt is a resilience planner by trade, he has extensive experience with geographic information system applications. His ability to perform spatial analysis or produce production-quality maps is a valuable resource and he also particularly enjoys being involved in both urban planning work as well as geospatial tasks or analysis.
One of Matt’s favorite projects was the Tazewell County Flood Resilience Plan. This project focused on providing concepts and funding mechanisms to a county that has experienced severe flooding. He found it very rewarding to meet the residents and discuss their needs and work with county staff to provide viable options to improve their ability to deal with regular and extreme flooding events.
For Matt, a benefit of Stantec is that it is a global company with subject matter expertise in nearly every aspect of architecture, engineering, and urban planning. His team leans on this knowledge to provide high-quality work to clients without having to go outside of the company.
