Mary works around the world, focusing on the aquatic and terrestrial parts of environmental assessments and environmental effects monitoring to support clients across all sectors. She provides leadership to our ecosystems staff and services in Canada, and she is spearheading the growth of Stantec’s environmental DNA (eDNA) services as our global eDNA leader. Mary has co-authored a paper on using eDNA to detect striped bass in marine water and she regularly presents at technical and industry conferences on eDNA and other science-based solutions.
Stantec’s eDNA tools improve biological surveys, rare species assessments, and invasive species determinations. Mary uses these DNA-based tools to save time and cost and raise the confidence of clients and regulators in making decisions that preserve the environment.
Mary enjoys living in Fredericton on the east coast of Canada with her family and big poodle, Georgia. Her family loves outdoor activities that include many bonfires with pals in both summer and winter.
