Joe is passionate about the creation of multi-modal solutions for urban transportation planning and design projects, applying his background in team management, project management, strategy development, and municipal engineering to create complete streets solutions for both public and private clients. In Calgary, Alberta, Joe led the development of policies and strategies aimed at improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists, shifting the city-wide mode by providing the infrastructure for all travel choices.
Currently, Joe is involved with the City of Edmonton Complete Streets & Construction Design Standards. This project will integrate the latest complete streets design principles—providing more walkable, bikeable, and accessible streets—with their construction standards. His contributions will make the implementation of safe street design much easier for practitioners.
Joe is a true outdoorsman. When he’s not helping his clients create multi-modal solutions for their transportation networks, he can be found with his family camping, hiking, trail running, or marathoning—any activity that helps him enjoy the great outdoors.
