Mark’s career started out on commercial and residential work, but it then evolved into a 15-year specialization in healthcare facilities with a focus on evidence-based, patient-friendly wellness environments.
Before recently re-joining Stantec, Mark was lucky enough to work on the Emir of Qatar’s palace. Volunteering some technical expertise, Mark spent a few months in Doha working on the palace’s envelope enclosure. One particular highlight was collaborating with international design architects and interior designers to refine their schemes—making sure their ideas were constructible with the skills and materials available in that part of the world.
When Mark isn’t at work, he might be spending his free time with furniture design or watercolor painting. When vacationing, he loves to explore the cities of Europe or just escape the urban environment and go backwoods camping in Algonquin Park.
