David’s role at Stantec is all about using his skills to help others apply their skills to our client’s solutions. As a Senior Data and Automations Specialist, he eliminates tedious tasks by creating code to automate tasks that are time consuming, or pose a risk for human error. Ultimately, he gives engineers more time to focus on the bigger, more complex ideas, which in turn, save clients’ time and money.
With a background in engineering, David can bridge the gap between data science and engineering. He enjoys his role as a translator between the needs of engineers and the skills of his data analytics team, to provide tools that are easy to use and understand. Most recently, he played a key role developing the Infrastructure Assessor Tool, which allows for in-person assessments to be completed remotely using Google Street View. Another tool he’s proud to have worked on is EnviroExplore, which allows users to understand the environmental and social constraints of a site at the click of a button.
Outside of work, he takes his pent-up energy, saved from reducing labor at work, and throws it into action sports like rugby, American football and ultimate frisbee.
