Chengyan has five years of experience in the fields of water resources management and water and sanitation. She specializes in developing long-term infrastructure investment strategy as well as risk and resilience planning for municipalities and state government, particularly in the context of climate change, social, and economic uncertainties. She’s also worked on fecal sludge and septage management and treatment in low- and middle-income countries. 

When collaborating with local and state government, multi-lateral development agencies, and private foundations, Chengyan understands and brings international perspectives the US, Australia, China, Indonesia, Rwanda, Kenya, and Mozambique. 

She’s presented and published her work at various national and international conferences and in peer reviewed journals. She was a guest lecturer for the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (formerly UNESCO-IHE) and a featured speaker at the American Water Works Association annual conference, the American Water Resources Association annual conference, and the International Water Association’s climate change special topic conference.
