Enbridge Regina Bypass Project

To direct traffic away from the city core, the Government of Saskatchewan decided to construct a bypass around Regina. However, initial planning highlighted sections of utility piping that would interfere with construction, and ultimately, with road usage and safety. The bypass design required Enbridge to assess and re-design sections of buried pipeline to permit road construction above ground. Enbridge called upon us—their consultants of choice—to help achieve this goal under a tight timeframe.

Our team began the project in January 2015, facing a tight schedule, changing information, and poor soil conditions. Never afraid of a challenge, we collaborated closely with Enbridge to assess affected pipeline crossing locations, perform stress analysis, replace certain pipeline sections, design sleeves and concrete protective slabs, and ensure the design aligns with all codes and standards.

Our collaborative approach paid off—all pipeline modifications were completed on time and within budget, permitting the construction of the ring road to get underway. This led to Enbridge being recognized by the Government of Saskatchewan as a ‘top notch organization’, and they acknowledged our valuable contributions to this great achievement.
