Giving the City of Logan the tools they needed to grow
The City of Logan, Ohio wanted easier access to information that would support their utility operations; however, funding was limited. We joined forces with the city and assisted in the preparation of a grant application to the Ohio Development Services Agency for a much needed Geographic Information System (GIS). The result? Success.
They used the funds to have our team develop a GIS database that would help provide readily available information to field and office staff, support future planning, evaluate capacity, and address maintenance problems. The GIS features, linked to their engineering drawings, enable city personnel to view related plans in the system.
Our team prepared the GIS for future growth by using the Esri Local Government Information data model, which is a standard for storing municipal GIS data. Carefully considering the needs and resources of the city, we also provided the city with an ArcGIS Online viewer application that allows them to explore their GIS data in a cost-effective manner.
Stantec has been supporting the City of Logan for years with our engineering expertise, and through successful cross-office collaboration, now supports their GIS initiatives.
