Creating a surgical pavilion for the future
As part of a major modernization and expansion of its surgical and endoscopy services, Wayne UNC Health Care engaged our team to provide a project assessment and manage the 46,000 square foot addition of a surgical pavilion and the 46,000 square foot back-renovation of the existing hospital.
The project consists of replacement and modernization of 13 operating rooms, peri-anesthesia, central sterile processing, endoscopy and ERCP rooms, waiting rooms, locker rooms, and on-call rooms. The project also includes an outpatient registration area, lobby, relocation of a chapel and restrooms, and the addition an electrical node and medical gas storage. Our team was on-boarded after the project began to conduct an assessment to determine what project resources were required to complete the work. The team successfully provided the client a thorough analysis of the project, foreseeable challenges, as well as guidance on how to effectively manager stakeholder and user communication.
After completing the project assessment, we were engaged to oversee and manage the project through to completion. This included budget, scope, schedule management, construction oversight and coordination with the Wayne UNC facilities team during the phased renovations, as well as to manage owner furnished equipment, move in, relocation, inspection coordination, and project closeout.
