An apprenticeship is a paid development programme. You receive on-the-job training to gain hands-on experience whilst studying for your relevant academic qualification.

What does a working day as an apprentice at Stantec involve?

There will be lots of learning and development support during your apprenticeship, from digital learning platforms to in-person group activities and projects. Plus, when you begin, you will be allocated a mentor for the duration of your apprenticeship.

Our Developing Professionals Group is also a great network to help support your development.

What is the split between working and studying?

You will receive at least 20% of your weekly working hours to complete your academic learning. In most cases, you may work four days a week and attend college/university one day a week on a day release.

Level 6 Apprenticeships are suitable for school leavers aged 18/19 years or over, looking to gain a degree while also starting their career journey. It requires education up to A-Level or equivalent and lasts approximately 5-6 years as you will be studying part-time.

You can also apply for a degree apprenticeship if you’ve already successfully completed a lower-level apprenticeship and you’re looking to further your career.

A Level 6 Apprenticeship can take up to 5 years to complete.

What are the entry requirements for a Level 6 Apprenticeship?

How is an apprenticeship assessed?

It will depend on your course provider. There are several ways you can be assessed throughout your course, including practical assessments, a written project, multiple-choice tests, or an observation in the workplace. It may also include an end-point assessment in the workplace.

Where will I study?

We will look at colleges/universities in the local area to find the most suitable course at the level required. In some instances, we will have established relationships with course providers already.

What happens if I do not achieve my predicted grades even though I have been made an offer?

If you do not meet your predicted grades, you must inform the early careers recruitment team as soon as possible. We will do our best to see what other options and pathways we can support you with. However, your offer of employment as an apprentice is conditional on the grades you receive.

What is the typical start date for an apprentice?

Start dates can vary depending on your course. It may be as early as mid-August or the beginning of September. Initially, you will start in the office, then your college or university course follows shortly after.

When I finish my apprenticeship, can I stay at Stantec?

We employ all apprentices on a permanent contract. After your initial apprenticeship course is complete, we explore any other development required to progress you on your chosen career path. We will work together to place you in a suitable role after your apprenticeship.
