Cara is an interdisciplinary professional who specialises in the social value of the built environment. Her passion? Shaping the quality of life in society through physical interventions.
With five years of researching and consulting experience on the social value outcomes of infrastructure projects, Cara recently graduated from the University of Manchester with a PhD in project management. Her previous work has included wider social impact planning for UK nuclear decommissioning, European public transport schemes, and organisational operations.
Cara’s work has contributed to current thought leadership publications on social value in the built environment sector, cited in both the Institute of Civil Engineers and Institute of Economic Development social value reports. She is pleased to support agendas that push for social value creation both from additional organisational activities as well as from project design embedding. This means working with a broad definition of social value, considering the social, economic, and environmental impacts of project outputs. She’s currently working on a two-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership project in collaboration with the University of Reading: the Better Places Research.
Outside of work, Cara enjoys a laid-back approach to staying active with yoga and walking in nature when she can.
