Axalta Global Innovation Center – Advisory Services

Axalta, a global leader in high-performance coatings, engaged us to provide business advisory services to select a site for its new Research and Development Headquarters. They needed a location that would serve long-term research needs and foster collaboration among employees, partners, and clients.

Our team guided Axalta through a thorough evaluation and decision-making process, assessing existing assets, understanding research processes, and developing planning scenarios to provide long-term viability and alignment with business goals. We supported due diligence for potential sites, evaluating feasibility, risk, and opportunities to consolidate research and development (R&D) functions.

Our involvement also included strategic support during lease negotiations to align real estate decisions with financial priorities. We worked with regulatory agencies to facilitate approvals and maintain compliance, and consulted construction management firms to gather insight on labor, capital costs, and scheduling. With this data, we modeled multiple implementation strategies to empower confident, informed decisions.

The result was the creation of Axalta’s Global Innovation Center at Philadelphia’s historic Navy Yard, the largest coatings R&D facility worldwide. The center features advanced laboratories and office space, providing a collaborative environment that connects Axalta’s people, partners, and customers while supporting innovation and growth.
